【011】What do we teach? Our courses are very basic.

What do we teach? Our courses are very basic. In fact, the title of everyone of them begins with the words "Introduction to". In any two-hour lesson, there is only about 30 minutes of new material. The rest is review of previous week material or exercises for the current week material.

While each Learning Center will vary, teaching the Basic "Introduction to Computers" course account for about 60% of the courses offered. This course will teach the student the basics on Word-Processing and the Internet, and a smattering of Spreadsheet and Database.

Our "advanced" courses include Introduction to Genealogy, to Quicken (a budget and investment tracking program), and to Graphics (Greeting Cards, Posters, Announcements, Banners etc.), in addition to follow-on courses for Word-Processing, the Internet and Spreadsheet.

All our curriculum is stored in a special area of our web site, accessible only to our volunteers. When a Learning Center wishes to start a new course, they download the curriculum, do whatever editing they want, and then print off a master copy of the workbook to take to the copy facility.
