#Living normally even after having dementia seminar of group home careGroup home care" was held on 16th of november at tohoku fukushi university in aoba ward. In the seminar, the implementation of care by the "group home" for the people with dementia was discussed. Care by the "group home" was implemented 15 years ago in sweden. Two experts were invited for the seminar. One person was ms.stina klala hylstrom who is the vice president of the swedish dementia society. She is also the president of krokalgarudo fund which aims to improve medical care for people with dementia in Sweden. The other person was mr.solbey freedel who is the chief researcher ofthe architectural function analysis laboratory of royal swedish institute of technology. Mr. solbey is an expert on architectural design, and he received the swedish first prize in a designing competition of bathrooms for handicapped people. Those two people introduced their 15-year experiences of group home in sweden. Ms. hylstrom emphasized that it is possible to have an ordinary life without taking sleeping pills or tranquilizers after having dementia. Everyone still has memory of the period during which they actively lived, even after having dementia. It is important to provide a life surrounded by the furniture, and goods for daily use they are familliar with. Ms. akemi kondo who is a representative of scns "hidamari" for seniors, ms.shizuko utsumi of tagajo city, who runs a home for aged people having dementia, and some other people who are working for the same purpose also participated in the seminar. Ms. hylstrom gave us following encouraagement; we are thankful that there are so many people in japan who have started thinking of dementia in a different light. Although there is a difference between japanese and swedish cultures,a solution for the common problem of dementia can be found if there is mutual co-operation between us. u
