The details of the project to form a Japanese model senior center


April, 1995
 The president of SCNS, Ms.Demura and some other members went on a tour to study the current situation of the aged society in U.S. They visited various senior centers in California, Florida and Wisconsin.
May, 1995
 The international symposium " Let's make a rich society so that we can enjoy aging" was held in Sendai International Center. "Sendai Appeal" was adopted.
June, 1995
 The preparation to establish the Sendai Citizens' Network for Seniors started.
August 12, 1995
 Sendai Citizens' Network for Seniors was establised.
November, 1996
 The vice president, Mr. Tobukuro went on a study tour in U.S. He visited some places including some senior centers in the west coast. The report appears in the SCNS homepage.
May, 1997
 " The study group group to make up a rich society so that we can enjoy aging" was organized.
August, 1997
 "The Japan - U.S. Forum on the Japanese mode senior center" was hosted by SCNS and had an attendance of about 400 people. The video " The senior centers in the U.S" was showed.
October, 1997
The experimental project to form a Japanese senior center,"Salon Wai Wai Ishinazaka" was opened.
November, 1997
 A group study tour went to the west coast in the U.S. Some members from SCNS visited some senior centers and the town for the aged, "SUN CITY".
March, 1998
 The reports, "The Japan - U.S. Forum on the Japanese model senior center" and "The senior centers in the U.S." were completed. ( By the project leader for JAPAN EXPO IN MIYAGI '97, the former vice president, Mr. Ito)
May 27, 1998
 The general assembly of SCNS was held. " The project to form a Japanese model senior center" was approved.
August 19, 1998
"The project to form a Japanese model senior center" opening ceremony was held.
